No, I’d say they are mostly meant for desktop use. They only make sense with really, really big monitors. The difference in viewing distance between your eyes and the center versus the edges can become significant.

I used a 1920 x 1080 monitor for many years before upgrading to a 4K @60Hz last year, and I noticed significant differences between the two.
